I'm currently down in New Zealand getting my winter fix with a select few of Atomic athletes. The trip has been amazing thus far. I've quickly learned how incredible the small town of Wanaka really is... There are relatively large surrounding mountains with plenty of unique and playful ski terrain, paired with warm temps and insane mountain biking / rock climbing down in the valley for the down days. Our main objective is to get images for the Atomic catalog with all our new products, as well as test a few prototypes. It's been going quite well and been super enjoyable, especially factoring in the ability to make great use of our down day activities. And lastly, the views in every direction are arguably some of the most beautiful I've seen in any country. Here are few pics from my iphone I wanted to share, just in case you don't partake in social media or have instagram. Enjoy!

It's been a while...so all of you faithful site visitors, thanks for checking back. Summer has been jam packed. I've been able to surf, ski, climb, and bike, quite regularly... Pretty much everything except update my blog. As for my latest accomplishment, I competed in the June Lake Triathlon. It was a challenge, but felt great to accomplish it once again. I placed 11th overall, which was much better than I originally hoped for. Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise to do well, and got me even more stoked to keep pushing myself. Hope your summers are going well. You should go out and try pushing yourself past your comfort zone at some point this summer. It feels good...and you'll be happy you did. I came across these pics online, so I thought, may as well share. Taken by local ripper/ photog: Jim Barnes. Also, if you're on instagram or twitter, please follow my adventures there as well. I do a much better job staying up to date. Ride on!

I wanted to share a gallery of my favorite iPhone pics that I took while I was up in Alaska with TGR. The more I use instagram, the bigger fan I become. The app really makes me feel like I just got my very first camera, all over again. It seems that a majority of the time I have my phone with me, and now with the instant gratification and ability to edit / manipulate my photos, it really allows for non-stop pics through out my travels. And seeing that not everyone has an iPhone, or instagram, I saw it fitting to share an insta-gallery from AK with the rest of you, instead of keeping them solely on the gram... Photography is a great way to express an artistic view, so hopefully you enjoy the pics. Cheers!

Since I'm just sitting inside enjoying my view of the clouds and catching up on computer activities, I decided now would be a great time to update my blog. Also, as a side note for any of you consistent blog followers, I apologize for the lack of content lately. With all of these different social media outlets, and making sure I stay outdoors, it's been a challenge to stay on top of my web updates... As of late, I've been up in Whistler, BC spending some quality time back on my skis and filming with Nimbus Independent. I've also had the chance to shred with my wife, Kimmy Fasani, which is a real treat considering we are never in the same place at the same time... Needless to say, it feels great to be skiing pow again. As for my very near future, the plan is to stay posted up in BC, but switch my focus over to the TGR crew for a while. I'll undoubtedly keep updating Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, so if you care to follow, please do. Keep your eyes peeled for some classic Nimbus point and shoots, as well as the final BC webisode. And of course TGR's next and latest creation, dropping this September. Hope everyone is still getting their pow fix. Cheers!

1. You grew up in Mammoth Lakes, CA. What about your experience growing up there helped you excel as a skier and not a snowboarder, since Cali seems so snowboard centric? I THINK GROWING UP IN MAMMOTH, SURROUNDED BY SNOWBOARDERS, IS WHAT ALLOWED ME TO EXCEL. THEIR STYLE AND PROGRESSION WAS FAR AHEAD OF TWIN TIP SKIING AT THE TIME, SO I APPLIED THAT INSPIRATION TO A SPORT I ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED. 2. Where and when did you finally become a professional skier? When did you "arrive?" How did it make you feel? I THINK I GOT MY FIRST FREE PAIR OF SKIS AROUND THE AGE OF 15 OR 16. I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME (MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN), WITH THE PROGRESSION OF THE SPORT HAPPENING AROUND ME. I FELT AND STILL DO FEEL VERY FORTUNATE AND BLESSED; FOR MY PARENTS SUPPORT, THE PLACE I CALL HOME, MY CAREER NOW AS A SKIER, AND SO ON... 3. You're married to professional snowboarder Kimmy Fasani. Was one of your motivations for shacking up with another winter pro athlete to create super pro children? NO ACTUALLY... I MARRIED KIMMY FOR MANY REASONS. I REALIZED WHAT A RARE THING WE HAVE, AND HOW LUCKY I WAS TO FIND THAT AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE... .........Read the rest here: http://www.bnqt.com/blogs/detail/Pro-File-Chris-Benchetler/11395.html |
